Our relationships with food and body can be doorways that create awareness, understanding, and true healing. So many times we focus on the outside to supply us joy and acceptance; seeking answers that seem to disappoint or hold us in fear, sadness, and anger. We experience enthusiasm and hope in the next best diet and exercise plan, only to be followed by failure when we do not live up to expectations. Our excruciating cycle of restriction, followed by what we may see as “out of control,” goes on and on and on. It seems as though we sink further into a hole, the light consequently further away; the door seemingly closing.
Our eating challenges and body obsessions are asking us to stop looking outside, and instead find the keys inside. There is hope. There is a light.
